Attendees: Dean, Larry, Holden, Richard, Doug, Gayle and Trish by phone 1. Review the Saturday, September 5, Iran War/Gaza genocide vigil. Three people were at 371 and 210 and two people were at 6th and Washington. 2. Review the peace vigil held outside the new Minnesota Military and Veterans Museum near Camp Ripley on Saturday, September 12. The "Save Earth Stop War" float was used and six people attended. The assistant director of the museum stopped and welcomed us and was sympathetic to our message against war. Many people going into the event gave us a thumbs-up. A gentleman from St. Cloud stopped and talked, inviting us to demonstrations in St. Cloud every Saturday at 1:00 p.m. Very few negative responses. 3. Review BACP-BLUE hosting a table at Pride in the Park on Saturday, September 12. A couple of new sign-ups. Event was well run. 4. Review the Saturday, October 3, Iran War/Gaza genocide vigil. Three regulars and two new folk, who signed up at the Pride in the Park event. Welcome to new friends! 5. Review the "Earth's Greatest Enemy" film presentation held in the Brainerd United Church of Christ (UCC) Fellowship Hall on Saturday, October 3. Excellent film but poor attendance. Discussed ways and venues to get the film out as it is ours now. Trish felt the film was too long (about 2 hours) to show at many events. Suggestion was made to contact DSA and see if they could show it at the social they are planning and also to just have it playing at any table we have at events. $135.00 was collected to send to the film makers. 6. Plan for the Fall BACP-BLUE, Adopt a Highway cleanup. BACP-BLUE has an Adopt a Highway section north of Little Falls. Cleanup will be Saturday, October 17th. We meet at the intersection of 371 and county Rd 76, in the deserted restaurant parking lot. Cleanup will start at 10:00 a.m. Vests, bags, and some grabers will be available. 7. Discuss the upcoming No Kings Rally being held in Brainerd on Saturday, October 17. The Brainerd No Kings Rally will be held at the intersection of Sixth and Washington Streets, Brainerd, across from the historic Brainerd water tower. The rally is scheduled to last from 1 to 2 p.m. The No Kings Rally will protest against the Trump Administration's authoritarianism, corruption, human rights abuses, imperialist wars, and extremely harmful environmental policies. Brainerd Lakes Area Indivisible is hosting the Brainerd No Kings Rally. Discussion followed concerning Indivisibles aim, activities and publicity. Trish feels they are following the national lead and becoming more circumspect. It was surmised that they have fears of harassment. Trish informed us of the Washington Street Brigade on T and TH afternoon but a person must register should they want to be involved in that. Crosby is also having a No Kings rally.(I was unable to find any information on that.) 8. Discuss and decide whether BACP-BLUE will host a future Zoom presentation by environmentalist and peace activist Bob Dunsmore. Dunsmore is active with the Heart Mind Alliance based in Aurora, Colorado. The Heart Mind Alliance advocates direct digital democracy to solve the problems of militarism, poverty, and climate change. Dunsmore offers to give presentations on direct digital democracy to interested groups. Attached is the Great Mandate, a policy document from the Heart Mind Alliance, which discusses the concept of direct digital democracy in more detail. Holden was the only person interested in following up so Doug will give Bob his contact information. 9. Plan for BACP-BLUE's online Wednesday, November 4 meeting. (BACP-BLUE will hold our monthly meetings on Zoom from November to April.) Discuss and decide whether the online BACP-BLUE meetings will be held at 6 or 7 p.m. The meeting will start at 6:00 p.m. 10. Plan for the Saturday, November 7, Iran War/Gaza genocide vigil. Due to cooler weather, time was moved back to 1-2 p.m. It was suggested we move to 6th and Washington to make one group but that decision was tabled until next month's meeting. Treasurer reported funds in excess of $900.
